Characteristic
  • Introduction
  • Characteristics
  • Applications

ADMER™ Adhesive Resin is a polyolefin tie layer resin designed to bond:

  • Ethylene Vinyl Alcohol (EVOH)
  • Polyamide
  • Polyethylene
  • Polypropylene
  • Steel and Aluminum
  • Polyester (PET)
  • Polystyrene
  • Ionomer
  • Polycarbonate

Available in pellet form, ADMER™ Adhesive Resin can be used in a wide variety of coextrusion processes for bottles, tubes, sheets and films. Mitsui Chemicals can offer an adhesive resin solution for your sophisticated multilayer barrier structures.

ADMER™ Adhesive Resin is currently used in used in automotive, chemical, and industrial applications where durable adhesion is required. In these applications ADMER™ offers superior performance as a binder or coupling agent for Fiber Reinforced Plastics (FRP), Plastic Fuel Tanks (PFT), Fuel Lines, Fuel Filler Pipes, and Connectors.

Strong Adhesion and Durability

ADMER™ Adhesive Resin adheres by thermal reaction to Polyamide (Nylon), EVOH, Polystyrene, Polyesters (PET, PETG), Polycarbonate, Polyolefins (PP, PE) as well as steel and aluminum. The mechanical strength, heat resistance and chemical resistance properties of ADMER™ enables the multilayer structure to be boiled, hot filled and retorted.

Easy Processing

As a thermoplastic, ADMER™ can be easily processed by:

  • Blow Molding Coextrusion
  • Sheet or Tube Coextrusion
  • Film Coextrusion (cast and blown film)
  • Coextrusion Coating
  • Powder Coating (metal coating)
  • Co-Injection Molding

FDA Status

ADMER™ Adhesive Resin complies with 21 CFR 175, 105. PP based ADMER™ complies with 21 CFR section 177, 1390, (C) (2) under certain conditions.

ADMER™ is used as tie layer for dissimilar materials in a multi-layer barrier structure. Key applications include automotive fuel systems, multilayer barrier packaging for cosmetic, pharmaceutical, or food products, industrial metal coating, as well as oil and gas pipeline protection.

Automotive Fuel Systems

ADMER™ is used as a tie layer resin in integrated plastic fuel systems. Available in pellet form, this high-performance adhesive resin shows superior long-term adhesion, toughness, aging resistance and enables fuel system suppliers and OEMs to deliver fuel components with low permeation and superior durability.

  • Plastic Fuel Tanks
  • Fuel Lines
  • Fuel Filler Pipes
  • Fuel Connectors

ADMER™ binds the barrier materials in a multilayer construction with the toughness and adhesion required to deliver consistent permeation resistance, preventing evaporative emissions without weakening fuel system performance.

Cosmetic Packaging

ADMER™ may be used as a tie layer in film, cup, tray, tube and bottle applications. Common personal care and consumer packages for skincare, body care, and toiletries include:

  • Body Lotion Containers
  • Make Up Bottles
  • Oval and Round Tubes

Pharmaceutical Packaging

As a tie layer that bonds dissimilar materials in a multi-layer barrier structure, ADMER™ enables the development of new high-performance healthcare packaging, including:

  • Tubing
  • PTP packaging
  • Bottles

Food Packaging

Low permeation barrier materials in packaging structures restrict the passage of oxygen, flavor and odor. ADMER™ Adhesive Resin enables packaging engineers to design customized multilayer structures in rigid or flexible format, for the packaging of:

  • Ketchup
  • Mayonnaise
  • BBQ sauce
  • Salad dressing
  • Pudding
  • Meat
  • Cheese
  • Pasta sauce
  • Soup
  • Applesauce
  • Beverages

ADMER™ Adhesive Resin exhibits durable adhesion during, and following secondary processing:

  • Thermoforming
  • Sterilization
  • Orientation

The co-extrusion coating of ADMER™ with other plastics onto paper or foil offers additional opportunities in the food packaging area. ADMER™ grades are certified and comply with FDA, EEC directives, and Japan Hygienic Olefin and Styrene Plastics Association (JOSPA) regulations. ADMER™ grades may be used in direct food contact.
