Etofenprox or 2-(4-ethoxyphenyl)-2-methylpropyl 3-phenoxybenzyl ether is a new type of insecticide with low mammalian toxicity. The active ingredient etofenprox is a unique CHO compound consisting of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen. The Etofenprox formulations are compatible with most insecticide and fungicide, have shown no phytotoxicity at recommended rates and dilutions, and are stable under normal weather conditions as well as in rainfast.

1. Acute Toxicity

Etofenprox has a very low toxicity to rats tested irrespective of sex.

2. Skin and Eye Irritation

Skin and eye irritation studies with rabbits into the active ingredient of technical grade indicated that it caused no irritations.

3. Chronic Toxicity

Life-span feeding studies with Etofenprox in rats, mice and dogs were conducted and no adverse effects were observed.
Mutagenicity, teratogenicity and three- generation reproduction studies showed no noticeable abnormalities.

2. Bird Toxicity

  • Soil decomposition studies showed that the half-life of Etofenprox was approximately 1-3 weeks in aerobic soils.
  • The leaching test on soils revealed that Etofenprox was not leached out. It was concluded that Etofenprox did not flow into the aquatic environment.

Etofenprox Precautions and Safety

PRECAUTIONS

  • Avoid contact with eyes, skin or clothing. When measuring and mixing the product, wear protective garment, waterproof gloves, protective mask and goggles, rubber boots, apron and hat.
    At spraying, wear protective garment, shoes and hat.
  • Wash exposed skin thoroughly with soap and water after handling and application.
  • Do not apply in a fish farm or in shrimp, prawn or crab pond/ nursery.

STORAGE AND DISPOSAL

  • Store in a closed, cool, dry place and away from fire and sunshine.
  • Store in original container in safe place and away from reach of children.
  • Burn or bury empty containers in an isolated area according to local rules and away from sources of water. Do not reuse.

FIRST AID

  • SKIN CONTACT: Immediately wash with soap and water.
    EYE SPLASHES: Flush eyes immediately with steady running water for at least 15 minutes. Get medical attention immediately.
    IF INHALED: Remove victim from area of exposure and move to fresh air. Get medical attention.
    IF SWALLOWED: DO NOT induce vomiting. Give one or two glasses of water to drink and GET MEDICAL ATTENTION IMMEDIATELY. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.
